The sustainably crafted rum brand has already planted over 800,000 trees since 2005 and is well on its way to fulfill its pledge of planting one million trees by 2025.
The campaign titled “Together for a Greener Future“, supported by environmental charity One Tree Planted, includes a series of activations in points of sale and initiatives on social media (#TogetherForAGreenerFuture) to raise awareness on the importance of reforestation, as well as tree planting events in various countries throughout the year.

In turn, Flor de Caña will match all individual donations received during the campaign.
“One Tree Planted is proud to continue our partnership with Flor de Caña,
who have supported reforestation projects through unique fundraising campaigns over the years.”
says Matt Hill,
Founder & Chief Environmental Evangelist at One Tree Planted.
“As the trees grow, they’ll restore soil stability and health, improve water filtration and absorption, mitigate the effects of climate change, improve biodiversity and provide a host of benefits to the local communities”.
“As a global leader of sustainability practices within the spirits industry, we are deeply committed to the protection and preservation of the environment,” said Mauricio Solórzano, Global Ambassador for Flor de Caña.

The story of Flor de Caña dates back to 1890, when a young Italian adventurer decided to establish a distillery at the base of Nicaragua’s tallest and most active volcano, the San Cristóbal.
130 years and five family generations later, the entire production process continues under the supervision of the same family.

Thanksgiving in Los Angeles: the perfect stuffing bread DOES exist – and it’s… [Recipe Inside]
This Thanksgiving, the perfect stuffing bread DOES exist – and it’s brioche. As in St Pierre Brioche Thanksgiving Stuffing
No Thanksgiving spread is complete without a hearty stuffing. While add-ins are a matter of preference, choosing the right bread is crucial. One underrated choice is eggy, rich brioche – and with St Pierre Bakery, you don’t need to go to France to get it.
Thanks to its butter and egg content, St Pierre’s Brioche Loaf provides the perfect balance of crisp toastiness while remaining soft and creamy inside, while its lightly sweet flavor adds a decadent quality that can still lean savory. Attached below is an approachable recipe for stuffing allowing for all the craveable crunch for the whole family with minimal effort required.
St Pierre Brioche Thanksgiving Stuffing
By @BrandiMilloy
Ingredients
1 loaf St. Pierre Brioche Bread
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1 medium onion, diced
3/4 cup celery, diced
3/4 cup carrots, diced
1 cup mushrooms, diced
2 large eggs
1 tbsp. fresh rosemary, chopped
3 sprigs fresh thyme, just the leaves
1 tbsp. fresh sage, chopped
1 small apple (granny smith works well), peeled and diced
Salt and pepper
Directions
-
Preheat oven to 350 F. Cut brioche bread into 1” cubes and bake for about 10-15 minutes until toasted.
-
Meanwhile, into a pot over medium high heat add butter until melted. Add onion, celery and carrots and cook until everything starts to soften, about 7 minutes. Add mushrooms and cook for 2 minutes longer. Remove from heat and set aside.
-
Into a bowl whisk together the eggs, herbs, apples, mushrooms, and salt and pepper. Add your cooked vegetables and mix to combine.
-
Pour mixture on top of toasted bread and stir to combine. Bake stuffing for about 45 minutes. If your stuffing starts to get too brown, cover until finished baking. Enjoy!

The “Terror Tram” is unique to Universal Studios Hollywood, inviting guests to explore by foot parts of the famous movie studio backlot, home to some of the most notorious movie sets. Once guests disembark the Tram, the terror is unleashed.
This year, the villainous Hollywood Harry unravels “Hollywood Harry’s Halloween,” a nightmarish spectacle with a demented cast of characters that winds past the iconic Psycho House then through Steven Spielberg’s War of the Worlds set.
As guests make their way through a choreographed massacre at the Jupiter’s Claim set from Nope, they will encounter The Tethered from Us in a frightening finale of epic proportions. After the success of the 2019 “Us” house, this experience will feature all-new choreography by conceptual artist and choreographer Madeline Hollander.
The madness continues with thrilling haunted house experiences. The full line-up follows:
- “The Weeknd: After Hours Nightmare” takes guests into the twisted mind of multi award-winning artist The Weeknd as they step into a surreal living nightmare filled with grotesque characters and themes inspired by his music and short films.

- MGM’s “Killer Klowns from Outer Space” traps guests in a frightening funhouse of murderous clown-like creatures.
- “La Llorona: The Weeping Woman” features the legend of La Llorona who comes to life to terrorize the living as she mourns the children she murdered.
- “Scarecrow: The Reaping” finds that Mother Nature’s retribution against the homesteaders for their sins of the past will be carried out by the farmland’s scarecrows who have remained mute witnesses – and are now guardians of destruction for anyone who crosses their path.
- “Universal Horror Hotel” lives ups to its reputation as the original owner, who was executed years ago for his dastardly deeds, continues to haunt the place today – and guests must escape his vengeful spirit or risk becoming a permanent resident.
- Award-winning hip-hop dance crew Jabbawockeez brings an all-new, high-energy show nightly to this year’s event, featuring their gravity-defying dance moves, special effects and pulse-pounding music.
All-new scare zones will taunt and torment guests as they navigate the darkness from one terrifying house to the next:
- “El Pueblo del Terror” is an extension of “La Llorona: The Weeping Woman” as the horror continues once guests exit the haunted house and discover there is no escaping the frightening legend along with other supernatural characters from Latin America’s most frightening myths.
- “Sideshow Slaughterhouse” turns New York Street into a battle zone as the performers and workers from a seedy carnival sideshow are on a murderous rampage.
- “Clownsawz” features a demonic troop of clowns who band together to terrorize guests with chainsaws as they enter the park.
Guests also can revel at select theme park attractions open during the run of event, including “Jurassic World—The Ride,” “Transformers™: The Ride-3D,” “Revenge of the Mummy—The Ride”

Big Day for Oregon’s Willamette Valley Vineyards: Best Tasting Room! Best Wine Club! named by USA TODAY 10Best editors
Best Tasting Room! Best Wine Club! Oregon’s Willamette Valley Vineyards named by USA TODAY 10Best editors
An acclaimed panel of wine and travel writers and USA TODAY 10Best editors have awarded Oregon’s Willamette Valley Vineyards with two bests; Best Tasting Room and Best Wine Club in the country, taking the #1 and #2 spots, respectively.
The winery was established in 1983, and considering the field of more than 11,600 wineries in the United States, its recognition and accomplishments are no small feat.
A first-time win for Willamette, the award also demonstrates the fervent support of the winery’s robust superfans. With almost 5 million daily visits to the USA TODAY site, the 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards are coveted by winemakers across the country as a testimony to the wine tastings, food pairings and overall wine experiences.
According to USA TODAY, these nominations were carefully curated by a panel of subject matter experts for the Best Wine Tasting Room and Best Wine Club. 10Best editors narrow the field to select the final set of nominees for the Readers’ Choice Awards, and readers were allowed one vote per category, per day. In 2023, only one Oregon winery was on the top 10 list, with Washington and California wineries dominating.
Willamette has 10,000 wine club members, and 26,000 shareholder members, the only Oregon winery that’s traded publicly.
“There’s no one like us anywhere in the world,” said Founder and CEO Jim Bernau. “It’s Willamette’s devoted members, customers and visitors who are fanatical about our tasting rooms and wine club, and they put us on the podium. Similar to the way we were funded with crowdsourcing, this accolade somewhat unexpectedly put us at the top, and no one knew where we landed in the polls until they tallied the votes,” he said.
“I’m happy to provide a top-shelf experience to guests and wine enthusiasts who want to share their joy with others and I’m proud to see an Oregon winery rise to the top.”
The Willamette Valley Estate Tasting Room in the Salem Hills is Willamette’s flagship, offering wine tastings, food pairings from Executive Winery Chef DJ MacIntyre, and memorable wine experiences overall. They have 10 total tasting rooms and replicate their upscale wine and food experience at winery restaurant locations in Lake Oswego, Vancouver, WA, Happy Valley and Bend. Guests can opt for an immersive stay among the forest and vines camping and glamping at Into the Woods in an RV or Airstream, or stay in well-appointed guest suites near the tasting room.
“Our pride in hospitality shows,” said Bernau. “It doesn’t surprise me that we have superfans willing to vote for us many times over the course of a month,” he said. “They’ll often tell us about their experience in person or on an online review site. But I am constantly surprised at hearing from fans in Europe or South America or Australia who travel all over the world for wine and tell us ours is the best wine experience they’ve ever had–wine, food, tours, view, everything. We’ve come a long way in 40 years and we’re proud to help shine a spotlight on Oregon wine through USA TODAY!”
“When we heard we were nominated, our marketing department quickly and efficiently got the word out to tens of thousands of our members via email and social media to vote for Willamette,” said Chief Operating Officer Libby Spencer. Coincidentally, the nomination window was open during Willamette’s Owners Weekend, and recycled paper postcards were printed with QR codes so people could vote quickly and sustainably. “Many owners commented to me that they appreciated how fast and easy the process was,” said Spencer, “and so they went back time and again to vote.”
Echoed Bernau, “Our community-funded model differentiates us from other wineries. These wine enthusiasts are super fans who provide support. It just so happened that they were at the winery during the voting period for their annual owner celebration. They helped each other remember to vote every day throughout the campaign.”
Willamette has an intricate but obviously effective way of tiering support for their wine enthusiasts.
At the top level, for Owners who have 300 or more shares of stock, perks like printed business cards for Owners, or discounted tastings and food at any of the 10 locations.
Willamette’s Wine Club has five different levels by subscription. Finally, anyone can book a tasting at the Willamette Valley tasting rooms by simply booking a reservation here.
As one of the five largest wine producers in the state of Oregon, Willamette sources all of its grapes from 500 acres in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, from Forest Grove to the South Salem Hills. They own and manage 1,018 acres of vineyard land consisting of thirteen estate vineyards with two more in the making, 234,000 cases produced in 2023, a new biodynamic vineyard and sparkling winery Domaine Willamette in the Dundee Hills and 346 employees.
About Willamette Valley Vineyards
Founded in 1983 by CEO Jim Bernau with the dream of creating world-class Pinot Noir while serving as stewards of the land, Willamette Valley Vineyards has grown from a bold idea into one of the region’s leading wineries, earning the title “One of America’s Great Pinot Noir Producers” from Wine Enthusiast Magazine. In addition, all the vineyards have been certified sustainable through LIVE (Low Input Viticulture and Enology) and Salmon-Safe programs. With 1,000 acres under vine, Willamette farms its Estate winery in the Salem Hills, sparkling winery Domaine Willamette in the Dundee Hills, pioneering Tualatin Estate Vineyard near Forest Grove and Elton Vineyard in the Eola-Amity Hills. The winery has expanded in recent years to include 10 tasting rooms in Oregon, Washington and California – growth made possible by the stock ownership of many wine enthusiasts.

This Springtime, Sommelier Jaime Smith reveals the best wines to Treat yourself while saving $$$
Sommelier Jaime Smith reveals the best wines for Springtime, treat yourself and save money.
With the coming of spring and the equinox, we start a time of renewal in nature, particularly in the northern hemisphere as the vineyards start to bud and come alive with energy. As the weather starts to warm and the plants wake up from a nice winter snooze, it’s time to think about what the last few years harvests have given us (as far as bottled wine).
With this warming, we still have cool if not cold nights, so when thinking about choosing wines for this new season, we have few limits.
We can celebrate in the day with sparklers and fade into the evening with a heartier red to keep you toasty.
These wines were chosen for QPR (quality to price ratio) as this is the single best determinate that defines well made wines. A good way to think about this is that if you have the means to drink a bottle daily, sub $20 is a sweet spot.
If you prefer one better bottle a week for a nice dinner on the weekend, perhaps $35 is a nice option; a very special bottle shouldn’t cost more than $75 (ever) in a store.
Not to give away the game but generally at wholesale if a bottle costs, for terms of simplicity, $10, in a store it would be 35% on top of that; on a shelf to you for ~ $14.
The markup for a restaurant is generally 300-400%, as they have many operating costs inlaid.
If anyone ever tells you they understand how bottles of wine are priced, they are lying.
These 15 wines represent some of the tastiness that is the exciting wine market right now. The wine will include both domestic and international selections and depending on where you live, will dictate the availability of each; the internet is the great leveler of the field!
For ease of choice to match both your moos and temperature needs, we split these up into a few categories. Mix and match!
